Why everyone keeps coming back.

Hainan Village Malayan Kopitiam in Puchong is a charming vegetarian restaurant that masterfully captures the essence of Hainanese flavors with a plant-based twist. Nestled at 31 G, Jalan Puteri 2/5, this cozy eatery offers a unique culinary journey for vegetarians and curious food lovers alike, blending traditional Malayan kopitiam staples with beautifully crafted vegetarian alternatives.

The menu at Hainan Village tempts with an array of thoughtfully prepared dishes. The Vegetarian Steamed White Chicken and Vegetarian Roasted Chicken are standout items, delivering authentic Hainanese texture and taste without compromising on flavor. Complement your meal with comforting sides such as the aromatic Curry Potato infused with onion and garlic, or the wholesome Brown Rice that pairs perfectly with the robust main offerings.

One of the highlights here lies in their beverage selection—sipping a cup of their signature Hainanese Cham, a smooth and harmonious blend of tea and coffee, instantly warm you with nostalgic comfort. The traditional Hainanese Coffee, rich and bold, invites coffee aficionados to experience an unmistakably deep, roasted flavor. For those craving something playful, the Milo Cham Kopi fuses chocolaty malt with coffee for a delightful surprise.

The tofu and mushrooms section is not to be missed: creamy, homemade pumpkin tofu, savory preserved radish tofu, and Marmite Abalone Mushrooms offer an umami-rich dimension, all thoughtfully prepared with options to accommodate preferences regarding garlic and onion content.

The ambiance in Hainan Village is wonderfully relaxed and inviting. It’s a quiet spot ideal for both casual meals and business meetings, thanks to clean, air-conditioned comfort and attentive, friendly staff. Jean Ng’s surprise upon discovering it was vegetarian only underscores how satisfyingly flavorful the dishes are—“好吃hochiak!” she exclaims, highlighting the Mee Siam and Curry Noodle broth’s rich taste. Meanwhile, Bryan Lee emphasizes the restaurant’s suitability for professional gatherings, appreciating the quiet atmosphere and cozy setup.

While parking can be challenging during peak lunchtime, as noted by Chuah W Pang, the serene vibe during weekdays makes it a hidden gem for those seeking a laid-back meal or a place to catch up with friends. Kauselyaa Mativanan’s praise for the staff’s warmth and the food’s top-notch flavors reflects the consistently high quality and welcoming spirit of the restaurant.

For those venturing into the world of vegetarian dining or looking to enjoy beloved Hainanese staples in a fresh, vibrant way, Hainan Village Malayan Kopitiam promises a memorable experience. Its combination of authentic tastes, considerate preparation, and a peaceful environment truly sets it apart in Puchong’s dining scene.

We ordered 2 breakfast sets and lei cha (ala carte) for brunch not knowing it was a vegetarian restaurant as it wasn’t listed outside the shop until we got a hold of the menu. Though it was quite delicious, the chee cheong fun breakfast set was rather plain - just a few strips of chee cheong fun and that was it. For its price, it would do good if a protein was adding as sides. But I highly recommend the lei cha Would really recommend the owner to improvise the menu, balancing carbs and plant-based protein for all dishes.

I had a quick stop at this restaurant to meet with a client and my boss. And I must say that this is most definitely a very comfortable place to drop and have a meal regardless whether for breakfast, lunch, tea time or dinner. If you like to organise business meets or like to find a nice, well air-conditioned, and quiet place to do work then this is certainly a place to consider and go to. Why am I saying this? Am I being paid to give such a review? Most certainly not! And also because this place most certainly deserves such a review from the bottom of my heart and my good conscience. The environment was great, service was great, food was lovely and homey, and most importantly is the people who are dedicated towards delivering & maintaining quality of service to customers with the same feel in every visit. That has been my general experience from several visits to this restaurant. I would like to keep paying this restaurant a visit as much as I hope for whenever I’m in Puchong. And I most certainly hope to be able to bring friends and family to give this place try as well.

Nice hainan coffee and cham. The place is cozy, clean and well set up. It’s not really that busy during week days even during lunch time. Parking is the major challenge in this area, it’s pretty much hardly any parking during lunchtime, this could result in this restaurant, not having that many crowds. Staff are friendly and price is reasonable recommended for a nice cozy place to sit with friends.

In fact, I accidentally found this meat-free restaurant. I tasted it with my heart. The food quality is worth looking back, but the service is only worth 1 point. If you press the bell more than 3 times, no one pays attention to it. I don’t pay much attention to outdoor customers. I hope Store owners can focus on training their staff on service, not relying solely on food as a selling point. The attitude of the service staff will add a lot to the restaurant. For outdoor seating, please arrange for employees to stand outdoors to entertain customers anytime, anywhere, instead of pressing the bell all the time and no one will pay attention.

First Visit – Honest Vegetarian Review Food: 3/5 – Tried the signature nasi lemak (with curry potato and tempeh) — decent overall, but the sambal was a little too tangy for my liking. Perhaps that’s the Hainan-style sambal? The wantan noodles were disappointing — noodles lacked bounce and aroma. The milk tea had a slightly bitter aftertaste. The toast bread was so-so for me, the kaya lack of something. Environment: 5/5 – Clean, tidy, and comfortable. Service: 5/5 – Friendly and attentive staff. Payment: 5/5 – Convenient! Accepts cash, cards, QR, and e-wallet payments. Note: Not suitable for pure vegetarians as some dishes contain eggs and the five pungent ingredients. Vegans can request egg-free options.

The food surprised me in the best way. The chef makes all the sauces from scratch, and you can really taste the effort in every dish. 1⃣ Rojak Konjac Salad – Fresh, tangy, and refreshing. The konjac has a crunchy bite that works so well with the rojak sauce. 2⃣ Crispy Salted Egg Tofu – My favourite of the day. Light, crispy coating with a rich salted egg flavour that doesn’t feel heavy at all. 3⃣ Honey Barley Braised Bean Meat – A comforting dish with a beautiful glaze. The texture is tender, and the sweetness from the honey barley is very balanced. Overall, I’m impressed. It’s a vegetarian menu that still gives you strong flavours, good textures, and that “wow, this is actually really good” feeling. Definitely worth visiting if you’re in Puchong!
